Police Investigates Poisonous Mushroom Following Mass Food Poisoning

Kuningan Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit has samples of mushroom to be investigated following 10 people fell to food poisoning. “The mass poisoning allegedly due to the mushroom picked by one of the locals in a garden,” says Kuningan Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, Police Commissioner Adjutant I Putu Ika Prabawa quoted from Antaranews on Thursday (11/21/2023). He states that the food poisoning occurred on Monday (11/20/2023) at Tugumulya Village, Kuningan Regency. Because of the mushroom, nine people has to be treated at the hospital and the other one unfortunately died. He explained that Kuningan Police has deployed its investigation unit to investigate the garden where the mushroom was picked. “The mushroom was acquired from H. He picked from a garden without any knowledge if its edible or not,” explains Prabawa. According to the initial investigation, H took the mushroom to his house and then one of his friends asked for some of the mushroom to be cooked. H then told around two hours after he and the others ate the mushroom, several people reportedly felt sick and vomit. “There are 10 victims, nine were treated at the hospital with one other died,” says Police Chief. The victim who died is Juma (78), who has already complicated illness, while the eight other victims have already been deducted from the hospital and other one is still undergoing intensive treatment.
