General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Yahya Cholil Staquf says boycott on Israeli products is vital in gaining politic attraction. “The boycott is quite important in gaining politic attraction and I think it is working,” says Yahya in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/21/2023). The boycott of products affiliated to Israel has become mass movements across the globe to support Palestine and condemning Israel brutal attacks on civilians. In support of this movement, Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) released Fatwa Number 83 of 2023 concerning Law on Support for the Palestinian Struggle some time ago. However, Yahya still boycotts won’t be enough as the conflict requires more resolute solutions to end the humanitarian crisis in Palestine. “Boycott is important to gain politic attraction, however we still have to think about logical and possible solutions. Not just by giving them hope, but also solutions that is workable,” add Yahya. Yahya further states that boycott, in the end, has become reciprocal act that have been carried out by both spectrums while brutality continues to be displayed in Gaza. “We need immediate cease fire.
