inp.polri.go.id - Central Sumba. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit once again demonstrated its concern and preparedness by swiftly responding to a natural disaster following a fallen tree blocking road access in the Tanadaro National Park area, a cross-district route in Central Sumba Regency, on Wednesday (1/21/2026).
The fallen tree, caused by rain and strong winds, temporarily hampered traffic flow and public activities.
Responding to this situation, Company 3, Battalion C Pioneer, NTT Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit, was immediately deployed to the location to clear the area and reopen the road.
A total of 24 personnel, led by First Police Inspector Wiwin Soeyatno, moved swiftly from the morning. Despite the rainy weather, personnel continued to work diligently using simple equipment to remove tree trunks and branches that were lying across the road.
The Commander of NTT Regional Police Mobile Brigade, Senior Superintendent Afrizal Asri, emphasized that personnel’s presence in the community is not only for security purposes, but also for humanitarian and disaster management.
"We always instill in all our personnel the need to be ready to assist the community when disasters occur. Handling this fallen tree is a concrete manifestation of our devotion to the community," said Afrizal Asri.
Personnel were able to move the fallen tree at 10.40 am and the road to Tanadaro National Park area was again accessible to vehicles, allowing public mobility to gradually return to normal. All activities proceeded safely and under control without any significant obstacles.
Afrizal added that they will continue to improve their preparedness for potential disasters, especially in areas prone to extreme weather.
"We urge the public to remain vigilant, especially during rain and strong winds. If an emergency occurs, report it immediately so it can be handled promptly," concluded Afrizal.
