inp.polri.go.id - West Kalimantan. West Kalimantan Regional Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate has thwarted the smuggling of 410 ballpress bags containing used clothes from Malaysia.

The Deputy Chief of West Kalimantan Regional Police, Brigadier General Roma Hutajulu says that in this case, police have identified a suspect with the initials of DY. The suspect, he says, has moved the clothes with four container trucks from Malaysia to Indonesia.

He said that the clothes were brought in through an unofficial route at the border of Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan. Then, from the border area, the goods were moved to another truck and delivered to Pontianak.

"After consulting with the expert, if we failed to prevent the smuggling, the state loss would reach IDR 730 billion," he said on Monday (1/20/2025).

For his actions, the suspect will be charged with Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 7 of 2014 concerning trade and will be subject to a 5-year prison sentence.
