West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said the investigation into the landslide incident was to follow up on the governor's revocation of the Mining Business Permit (IUP) for three mining companies in the area.

He explained that the investigation process had been ongoing since the day after the incident occurred. A number of witnesses have been questioned to uncover the cause of the mining accident which is suspected to have been triggered by a mining method that did not comply with procedures.

"Since yesterday, several witnesses have been questioned to find out the cause of this incident. We received information that there was an error in the mining method," he said.

Rudi emphasized that if there is proven negligence in implementing safety operational standards, the legal process will be continued in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

In this case, there are several laws that are applied, namely laws related to mining, work safety, the environment, and Article 359 of the Criminal Code concerning negligence that causes the death of others.

"We will take action," he said.

He ensured that law enforcement would run parallel to the administrative evaluation to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
