Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Supreme Court (MA) has officially declined to provide legal assistance to the Chief of the Depok District Court, I Wayan Eka Mariarta, and Deputy Chief Bambang Setyawan after their were named as suspects in a land dispute bribery case.
“As a commitment to maintaining the honor and dignity of the Supreme Court, the MA will not provide legal assistance to the individuals concerned,” said Supreme Court Spokesperson Yanto during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (9/2/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested the judges during a sting operation on 5 February 2026, which uncovered alleged illicit payments involving court officials and executives from PT Karabha Digdaya.
Chief Justice Sunarto expressed profound disappointment, noting that the scandal occurred shortly after President Prabowo Subianto announced a salary increase for judges.
To facilitate the investigation, the Chief Justice immediately signed detention permits for the suspects and initiated their temporary suspension. Alongside the two judges, a court bailiff and two private sector executives have also been named suspects for violating national anti-corruption laws.
