Inp.polri.go.id - Cirebon.   The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cirebon City Sub-regional Police in West Java has brought to light a murder case involving the discovery of a woman's lifeless body wrapped in a bedsheet in the river stream of Susukan Subdistrict, Cirebon, on Wednesday (10/1/2024). Senior Superintendent Sumarni, the Cirebon Police Chief, said  during a press conference on Monday (22/1/2024) that the victim, identified as OP (20), fell prey to a homicide orchestrated by her husband, MM (20), antaranews.com reported. "The suspect intentionally discarded the victim's body into the river in Susukan Subdistrict," she said, assuring that the suspect is currently in police custody at the Cirebon City Police Headquarters, awaiting further legal proceedings. According to the suspect's confession, the motive behind this crime was fueled by feelings of jealousy and resentment. "The investigation reveals that the incident began on 7 January 2024, at the victim's residence," Chief Sumarni explained. In a bid to escape justice, the suspect initially fled to Kuta, Bali, but was eventually arrested earlier last week.  He faces charges under Article 338 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. The Cirebon Police encourages the members of public to report cases of domestic violence directly to the Women and Children's Protection Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division or via the hotline at 110.
