inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. On Wednesday (8/20/2025) police arrested a suspect in the murder of a married couple identified as MR (37) and NAT (34) from Datar Village, Warungpring District, Pemalang Regency, Central Java.
According to the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Dwi Subagio, the suspect, identified as I, pretended to be a shaman capable of doubling money. He invited the two victims to perform a ritual.
The victims were found dead at a former stone-crushing site in Warungpring on Sunday (8/10/2025). The incident began when the couple, experiencing financial difficulties, asked the suspect for help with money doubling.
However, when the couple failed to receive any results, the victims demanded IDR 2 million in compensation for the ritual. The suspect then offered them coffee laced with poison as a condition for the final ritual.
"The perpetrator gave them coffee mixed with potassium and asked them to drink it in a quiet place in the middle of the night," explained Dwi.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Suspect I was a repeat offender for a similar murder, sentenced to 20 years in 2004 and released in 2019. Police are currently investigating the possibility of other victims.
For this heinous act, the suspect is being charged under Article 340 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (premeditated murder) or Article 338 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (manslaughter).
