inp.polri.go.id - East Kalimantan. The East Kutai Sub-regional Police have thwarted an illegal methamphetamine trafficking operation. In this raid, investigators arrested a suspected dealer identified as AP (24) in Muara Pantun Village, Telen District, early Saturday (2/14/2026).

In the arrest, police confiscated 25 packages of methamphetamine ready for distribution, weighing a total of 5.05 grams. East Kutai Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Fauzan Arianto, confirmed that this raid was a follow-up to reports from residents concerned about drug transactions in their neighborhood.

"Yes, our team has arrested one perpetrator in the durian orchard area of ​​Muara Pantun Village. From the arrest, we found 25 packets of methamphetamine neatly hidden inside soap wrappers and cigarette boxes," said Fauzan.

Fauzan explained that the perpetrator's method of storing the illicit goods was quite sophisticated. Two packages of methamphetamine were hidden in soap wrappers, while 23 other packages were placed in cigarette boxes to mislead officers.

"The perpetrator claimed to have obtained the drugs through a tracking system. We are continuing to investigate this to break the chain of criminal activity. We will not allow drug trafficking in East Kutai, no matter how small," he said.

In addition to the narcotics, investigators also confiscated IDR 600,000 in cash suspected to be proceeds from sales, a cell phone, and measuring equipment. The suspect, AP, is currently being detained.

The suspect has been charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.
