The Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, stated that the Tangerang City Sub-regional Metropolitan Police had suspended the detention of suspect Bahar bin Smith due to his recovery.

"Detention was not granted due to the fact that suspect HBS is undergoing treatment for an accident that occurred in December 2025," he explained on Saturday (2/14/2026).

Budi explained that this condition requires outpatient treatment. This has been confirmed by the Indonesian National Police medical team.

"So, it's not an excuse, but rather a reason for the person concerned to undergo outpatient treatment," he said.
