The incident was first noticed at 3:29 PM via a walkie-talkie (HT) reporting a fire on Shosa street, specifically in the area of ​​Dekai State High School 2.

Following up on the report, a Yahukimo Action Team immediately moved to the scene to investigate and secure the area. Upon arrival, personnel immediately sterilized and secured the area to ensure the situation remained under control and anticipate potential further security threats.

Based on initial investigations, the incident was an attempted arson attack on a classroom at Dekai State High School 2. The fire was quickly brought under control and prevented from spreading to other buildings.

The Head of Damai Cartenz Operations, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized that his team would thoroughly investigate the incident.

"We ensure that the situation in Dekai remains safe and under control. Regarding the attempted arson of a classroom at Dekai State Senior High School 2, further investigation is underway. We, along with the Yahukimo Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit, are conducting an in-depth investigation to uncover the perpetrators and their motives," he said.

He also emphasized that officers will intensify patrols and security at several vital facilities, including educational facilities, to prevent a recurrence of similar incidents and maintain public order and security in the Yahukimo area.
