Grand Commissioner Attendant Rita Wulandari Wibowo became the only female Policewoman of the Republic of Indonesia who received the IAWP Award, an International Women Police Association with nine police officers from other countries considered the best in the field of handling crimes against women in the Prevention and Detection category. Of Violence Against Women Award 2020 (Award for the Prevention and Detection of Violence Against Women 2020), which was held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday, November 7, 2021, while inaugurating the opening of the 58th International Association of Women Police (IAWP) conference by the National Police Chief, Gen. Police Listyo Sigit, was attended by representatives of law enforcement officers from friendly countries, policewomen from abroad, and Indonesian policewomen from Sabang to Merauke as many as 980 participants who attended in person or online by 39 countries. This moment is an honour for Indonesia because it is the first host country in Asia since the founding of this association in 1915
When receiving the award, Rita, who is currently serving in the Criminal Investigation Agency, had the opportunity to express her gratitude to the National Police Chief who had supported her by providing access and opportunities for female policewomen to advance and be gender-equal in the police environment as evidenced by giving strategic positions to policewomen, among others as the police chief whom Rita had felt when she was the Chief of Police in Tegal City.
The President of the IAWP, Deborah Friedl, in her virtual speech, said that Rita received this award because she was judged on her consistency and passion for 17 years in handling cases of women and children in conflict with the Law, both through cyber and conventional crimes, including the disclosure of topics such as physical, psychological or sexual violence in criminal acts of trafficking in persons, trafficking in organs, prostitution or child pornography, people smuggling or people smuggling, and sending illegal workers to foreign countries to be physically/sexually exploited and involved in the operation to repatriate 2,500 New Indonesian Workers & Indonesian Citizen from the East Central to Indonesia.
Everything was done when Rita, before becoming the Chief of Police in Tegal City, served as an investigator at the Sub-Directorate of Renakta Greater Jakarta Metro. Regional Police, Head of PPA at the Directorate of National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency and the Directorate of Cyber Crime at the Criminal Investigation Department Chief of National Police.
Rita, who has received the National Police Chief Gold Pin, has often involved herself in various programs and activities to share her experiences with ministries and institutions, practitioners, as well as academics and the community to be used to create programs and strategies for prevention and treatment, protecting Indonesian women and children and other vulnerable groups—such as the disabled, the elderly and other, discriminated against so as not to become victims/perpetrators of violence/exploitation of gender-based crimes.
