Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto and United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer have agreed to formally launch the Indonesia–UK Strategic Partnership, a framework expected to deepen bilateral cooperation across maritime security, economic growth, and education.
“Both sides intend to officially inaugurate the Indonesia–UK Strategic Partnership, which is expected to mark a new milestone in bilateral relations,” Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya said following a virtual meeting between the two leaders, as reported by antaranews.com on Saturday (22/11/2025).
The partnership will strengthen the Maritime Partnership Program through ocean security cooperation, real-time information exchange, and increased capacity in maritime law enforcement. Prabowo also emphasized Indonesia’s readiness to expand employment-driven investment projects under the Economic Growth Partnership.
Meanwhile, PM Starmer raised his support for the expansion of UK universities in Indonesia and reaffirmed the UK government’s pledge to provide up to 10,000 scholarships for Indonesian students.
Both leaders also addressed Gaza, urging the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) to protect civilians and facilitate aid delivery.
