Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto announced on Sunday (8/2/2026) that Indonesia has secured its highest national rice reserves in history, marking a milestone for the country’s food security. 

Speaking at the Nahdlatul Ulama Centenary event in Jakarta, the President declared that Indonesia officially achieved rice self-sufficiency on 31 December 2025, supported by revamped logistics and fairer fertilizer distribution.

"I have proven, the government has proven, that as soon as we took over, we could guarantee fertilizer reached all farmers fairly, sufficiently, and at lower prices," President Prabowo said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The President raised his optimism that Indonesia will achieve full food self-sufficiency within three years, with corn expected to reach the target shortly. 

In addition, the administration’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program has reportedly reached 60 million beneficiaries, including children and the elderly. The government aims to expand this reach to 82.3 million citizens by the end of 2026 as part of a broader strategy to lower food prices and improve national nutrition.
