Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday (26/6/2025) launched an additional 30,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil production at the Banyu Urip project in Cepu Block, East Java — a major step in Indonesia’s energy self-sufficiency push.
“I inaugurate the renewable energy projects in 15 provinces and the 30,000-barrel production increase at Cepu Block,” he said via video from Bali, as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, as reported by antaranews.com.
The upgrade brings total production at Cepu to 170,000–180,000 bpd, supplying 25% of Indonesia’s national oil output. The increase comes from four new wells in the Banyu Urip Infill Clastic (BUIC) project, operated by ExxonMobil Cepu Limited.
Minister of Energy Bahlil Lahadalia noted the project was completed in eight months, 10 months ahead of schedule.
The oil boost was inaugurated alongside geothermal and solar energy projects across 15 provinces, signaling the administration’s dual focus on fossil fuel reliability and renewable energy transition.
