Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Qatari-backed PT Al Qilaa International Indonesia will begin construction on 50,000 affordable apartment units in Indonesia as part of an initial phase of a larger one-million-unit housing project for urban low-income residents.
“We thank President Prabowo Subianto for supporting this project. He sincerely wants to help low-income communities by building affordable housing. We are starting now — and we’re serious,” said Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Thani, the Chairman of PT Al Qilaa International Indonesia, during a press conference on Thursday (26/6/2025).
The first phase is expected to require around US$2.5 billion in investment and be completed within two years. A second phase of another 50,000 units is planned.
The housing development will include community amenities such as schools, playgrounds, and swimming pools.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indonesia and Qatar was signed at the Presidential Palace, witnessed by President Prabowo, to formalize cooperation on funding one million homes for low-income citizens, as reported by antaranews.com.
