Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto extended an official invitation to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for a state visit to Jakarta during a phone conversation between the two leaders.
“President Prabowo invited me to Jakarta for an official visit in the near future,” PM Anwar said via his official social media account on Sunday (4/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
During the call, both leaders discussed bilateral cooperation across various sectors. They expressed confidence that stronger ties between Indonesia and Malaysia would bring mutual benefits to both nations.
The conversation also covered preparations for the ASEAN Summit, which Malaysia will host in Kuala Lumpur at the end of May 2025. As the current ASEAN chair, Malaysia emphasized regional cohesion on key issues.
PM Anwar also raised the need for a collective ASEAN stance on U.S. reciprocal tariffs and the Myanmar situation, stressing the importance of unity to protect the region’s long-term interests.
