Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  President Prabowo Subianto on Friday (22/8/2025) underscored the role of education in breaking the cycle of poverty, highlighting the government’s flagship Sekolah Rakyat, literally people’s school, program as a pathway for social mobility.

“Sekolah Rakyat prepares a generation to break free from poverty. One day they will return and lift their parents out of hardship,” he said during a briefing for teachers and principals at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com.

The president emphasized that education is central to achieving the founding fathers’ vision of true independence, not only from colonialism but also from poverty, hunger, and suffering.

According to President Prabowo, 100 Sekolah Rakyat have been established and are already operational. By September, 65 more will open, and by next year the government targets 200 schools nationwide.

He praised the rapid progress, achieved within five months through cross-ministerial cooperation, and urged educators to embrace their mission of preparing future generations capable of lifting their families and communities out of poverty.
