Inp.polri.go.id - West Bandung. Search and rescue teams have recovered 80 body bags as of the tenth day of operations following a devastating landslide in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua.
Despite the high recovery count, local authorities in West Java cautioned on Monday (2/2/2026) that the final death toll remains fluid as forensic experts work to reconcile remains.
The disaster has triggered a massive humanitarian response, with teams focusing on matching recovered remains with official missing person reports from the affected community.
“The search continues because not all remains have been identified; it is possible for two body bags to belong to a single identity,” said West Java Regional Secretary Ade Zakir during a briefing, as reported by antaranews.com.
The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) unit of the West Java Police has identified 58 individuals out of the 80 bags received. Experts are currently conducting post-mortem and ante-mortem data reconciliation to confirm the remaining identities.
While the temporary civilian casualty count is listed at 80, officials emphasized that the search area remains active to ensure no victims are left behind in the debris.
