Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto set an ambitious target to achieve national energy self-sufficiency by 2029 at the latest. 

Speaking during a visit to SMAN 1 Cilacap highschool in Central Java, on Wednesday (29/4/2026), the President said that Indonesia’s vast natural resources must be managed effectively to ensure national welfare and security.

"Energy self-sufficiency is our target by the end of 2029, at the latest. If we can do it sooner, we will work quickly," President Prabowo asserted, as cited by antaranews.com. 

He highlighted that proper resource management is essential to protecting Indonesia from international conflicts of interest often faced by resource-rich nations.

Beyond energy, the President reaffirmed his commitment to education, targeting the renovation of 288,000 schools by 2028. The government also plans to upgrade classrooms with digital smart boards nationwide to foster an interactive learning environment, facilitating easier access to digital syllabi for both teachers and students.
