Preventing Radicalism and Terrorism, PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police Visited Roudlatul Quran Islamic Boarding School of Metro

Chief of PR and Press of Lampung Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, along with the team from the PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police and Chief of Metro Departmental Police, Yuni Iswandari Yuyun, visited the Roudlatul Quran 1 Islamic Boarding School - Tamaddun Campus in the city of Metro. The visit also gave enlightenment to the santri and the school managers on the prevention and mitigation of radicalism and terrorism. The foundation leader of the Roudlatul Quran 1 Islamic Boarding School - Tamaddun Campus, Gus Yahya, warmly welcomed the team from the PR and Press Division of the Indonesian National Police. Head of Operational Assistance Sub-Task Force Team of PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police, Police Grand Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, in his opening statement, said that the visitation from the PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police is to provide education to the santri and school administrators in Roudlatul Quran Islamic Boarding School on the prevention measures and community defence not to be exposed by the radicalism. "Let's fight radicalism together. Terrorism is our common enemy. May God Almighty always gives us protection to the people, nation, and the country", he said. The team of the PR and Press Division of the Indonesian National Police also invited speakers from the Daily Executive of the Agency for Combating Extremism and Terrorism of the Central Office of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Muhammad Makmun Rasyid, to address subjects regarding contra-radicalism. In his explanation, M Makmun Rasyid said that terrorism is an act of crimes against humanity and civilisation that could cause severe problems for the national sovereignty, endanger world peace and security, and harms public welfare, according to MUI's Fatwa No. 3 of 2004. "Terrorism is a transnational well-organised crime and categorised as an extraordinary crime that indiscriminate anyone. The simultaneous and effective contra-radicalism activities must be conducted by the government and the people. There are no scapegoating Police and Armed Forces as the state's responsibility board. People need to be involved as the mandate of the 1945 Constitution to guard Indonesia together. Terrorism cannot be allowed in any form. Terrorising is haram, either conducted by the person, group, or state. Therefore, I encourage all stakeholders to be consistent in applying Pancasila's value in all policies and not being taken advantage of by the transnational group affiliated with radicalism and terrorism movement", he concluded.
