inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The demonstration held by several student groups in front of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Headquarters in South Jakarta concluded safely and orderly. Police ensured that the entire series of activities for expressing opinions took place in a conducive atmosphere.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, emphasized that security measures were implemented using a persuasive approach and prioritized human rights principles.
"We implemented security measures by prioritizing protection, a humanitarian perspective, and maintaining human rights," Budi told the media at the location on Friday (2/27/2026).
He explained that despite the dynamics on the ground, there was no damage to public facilities or physical clashes during the demonstration. The authorities maintained restraint and refused to be provoked.
"Although some students threw insults at police officers and even wrote inappropriate words on policewomen's scarves, the officers remained patient and did not give in," he explained.
Budi also emphasized the importance of maintaining etiquette when expressing aspirations, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. According to him, freedom of expression must be accompanied by respect for norms and the people who are fasting.
"We urge you, especially during this holy month of Ramadan, that there are norms and ethics that we must uphold together. Aspirations may be expressed, but we must still respect the people who are fasting," he said.
Furthermore, Budi ensured that all student demands and aspirations were taken into consideration by INP. He stated that this would be the subject of internal evaluation, including at the leadership level.
"Every point conveyed will certainly be an evaluation and learning experience for us within the police force," he said.
