PSSI Chair Appreciates Regional Govt Support for U-17 FIFA World Cup

Chair of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir express his gratitude for regional government officials in supporting the success of U-17 FIFA World Cup. “Of course, I want to say my thanks to Surabaya Regent and Solo Regent, alos the Governor of Central Java, Governor of East Java, Governor of West Java, and Jakarta Governor,” says Erick Thohir during a meeting with various regional heads in discussing the international event on Tuesday (10/20/2023). According to him, in promoting the tournament, governors and regents have played their active role in informing their respective citizens about the events. He hoped that this would also spark the enthusiasm of the people in supporting the success of the event. FIFA itself have set the goals of 10,000 to 18,000 spectators for each match. Moreover, Erick also conveys his appreciation towards the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimoeljono who continuously support the U-17 FIFA World Cup preparation in accordance to President Jokowi order. “We are optimistic that we have done our best in preparation, what’s left is how we should always be vigilant, be aware with anything that could happen,” says Erick. Erick says the success of U-17 FIFA World Cup is an opportunity for Indonesia to showcase its capability in holding a prestigious international event. Moreover, it would also send the signal that Indonesia has the potential to hold a bigger international event. It is worth noting that the U-17 FIFA World Cup 2023 would be held on November 10th to December 2nd, 2024, in four stadiums including Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta; Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (SJH), Bandung Regency; Manahan Stadium, Solo; and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Surabaya.
