Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. PT Karunia Alam Segar (PT KAS), the manufacturer of Mie Sedaap, has confirmed that its production facility in Gresik, East Java, remains fully operational and has not conducted any layoffs.
The clarification followed social media reports alleging that 400 workers were dismissed via instant messaging shortly before the fasting month of Ramadan period.
“PT KAS is operating normally; there are no layoffs or furloughs. Our production continues as planned, adjusting to market demand while valuing our human resources as vital assets,” said Peter Sindaru, the HR & General Affairs Manager at PT KAS, on Wednesday (25/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Despite the company’s denial, Minister of Manpower Yassierli confirmed that the ministry is still monitoring the situation to verify the reports.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad noted that after coordinating with PT KAS management, the company pledged to maintain industrial harmony. The government emphasized that stability is crucial, especially as workers prepare for the upcoming religious holidays.
