Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (BKSAP) of the House of Representatives, Mardani Ali Sera, said that Islamophobia was among the key issues addressed at the 19th Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC) Conference held in Jakarta on Tuesday (13/5/2025).

“Islamophobia is problematic not simply because Muslims are the victims, but because it reflects a flawed mindset that sees others as inferior, weaker, or less worthy. That kind of thinking needs to be corrected,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The conference also discussed several global issues involving Muslim communities, including the India–Pakistan conflict over Jammu and Kashmir, the Uyghur situation in China, the Moro conflict in southern Philippines, and the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.

Delegates called for diplomatic solutions, emphasizing peace, solidarity, and equal treatment. The situation in Palestine and the impact on neighboring countries like Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon were also highlighted, alongside 10 proposed resolutions on Muslim minority rights.
