Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Purwakarta administration in West Java officially announced during the National Education Day ceremony on Friday (2/5/2025) the ban of the use of mobile phones by students from early childhood education to junior high school.
Purwakarta Regent Saepul Bahri Binzein explained that reports from schools and parents revealed that children were becoming increasingly distracted by gadgets, which negatively affected their academic performance and character development.
"The excessive focus on mobile phones impacts students' learning and personal growth," said the Regent, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The new policy, outlined in the Regent’s Regulation No. 32 of 2025, applies to both public and private schools in Purwakarta, with exceptions only for emergency use under parental supervision. The Purwakarta Education Office will oversee the implementation and socialization of the new policy, which aims to create a more focused and disciplined learning environment for students.
