inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate of Islamic Boarding Schools of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, together with the Directorate of Health Promotion of the Ministry of Health, are strengthening health services in Islamic boarding schools through the Healthy Islamic Boarding School program.
"We hope this collaboration can be further strengthened, especially in aligning the Healthy Islamic Boarding School program with the Child-Friendly Islamic Boarding School initiative," said Basnang Said, Director of Islamic Boarding Schools at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Monday (9/15/2025).
He said that three aspects are emphasized in the Healthy Islamic Boarding School program: habituation of routine physical activity, education on healthy behavior, and development of health cadres.
In addition, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Health are highlighting health services in Islamic boarding schools with four key indicators: Islamic boarding schools that provide free health checks, Islamic boarding schools that have health rooms, Islamic boarding schools that provide iron tablets (TTD), and Islamic boarding schools that are ready to provide first aid for illnesses (P3P), first aid for accidents (P3K), and first aid for psychological wounds (P3LP).
The development of Healthy Islamic Boarding Schools also focuses on environmental aspects, such as the provision of proper and clean toilets, handwashing facilities with soap, dormitories with adequate ventilation and lighting, smoke-free areas, waste management with covered trash bins, and routine mosquito breeding eradication.
"The development of student cadres who can be deployed in Healthy Islamic Boarding Schools is also important so that efforts to raise awareness of students' health are spread to other students," said Director Basnang.
The Director of Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health, Elvieda Sariwati, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in strengthening the development base.
"This effort cannot be done alone. Cooperation is needed, especially in the exchange of data between the Directorate of Islamic Boarding Schools and the Ministry of Health to strengthen the development base such as santri husada and the team of Islamic boarding school administrators who manage healthy Islamic boarding schools," said Director Elvieda.
Through this collaboration, she hopes to realize a healthier, child-friendly Islamic boarding school environment that supports the optimal growth and development of students.
