inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Riau Islands Regional Police Chief Inspector General Asep Safrudin is committed to ensuring that the border areas of the Riau Islands Province do not become entry points for drugs into Indonesia.

"Every day we carry out a joint operation, collaboration, and never stop to guard the border areas to prevent any invaders and smuggling," said Asep in Batam, Tuesday (5/27/2025).

The two-star police general appreciated the success of the joint team under the coordination of the Drug Eradication Desk which has prevented the smuggling of 2 tons of crystal methamphetamine from Thailand into Riau Islands waters.

The former Vice Chief of the Riau Islands Regional Police said that his staff would continue to fully support every step taken to eradicate the cross-country drug syndicate network, both those carried out by the BNN and cooperation between agencies, including with international law enforcement officers.

"In the past few days we have been with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and other agencies, and in the near future there will be a new catch that  we are currently investigating," he said.

The high-ranking police officer emphasized that this commitment is a real form of the police institution's responsibility in guarding the Riau Islands region from the threat of increasingly massive and organized illicit drug trafficking.
