Riau Police deployed 200 Mobile Brigade personnel to Rempang Island, Batam City, Riau Islands, to support the rally security operation that operates Under Operational Control (BKO). Mobile Brigade Unit Commander of Riau Regional Police, Grand Commissioner Ronny Lumban Gaol says the 200 personnel are trained and officers who will help the Riau Island Regional Police in securing the rally. “To the 200 personnel who will assist Riau Islands Regional Police, bring honor to our badge,” says Ronny. Ronny asked his personnel in carrying out their duty to be more humane and careful. He also adds to always maintain their loyalty and should Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto emphasized that the residential land that triggered the riots on Rempang Island, Riau Islands, does not have Cultivation Rights (HGU). The Minister then explained that the locations meant for Rempang Eco City, covering an area of 17 thousand hectares, is a forest area and of that amount, 600 hectares constitute Land Management Rights (HPL) from the Batam Concession Agency (BP). He adds that before everything went downhill, the government has socialized the plan with the locals. According to him, almost 50% agreed with the proposal.
