Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) in Bali has recovered the body of an Australian citizen who was swept away at Balian Beach, Tabanan, after a two-night search.

"The Australian who was dragged by waves at Balian Beach, Selemadeg Barat, Tabanan, was found washed up at Secret Bay Beach, deceased," said Basarnas Bali Chief, I Nyoman Sidakarya, on Friday (18/10/2024).

The victim, identified as Laidley Craig Stewart (56), was found about 1 kilometer west of the incident site, according to antaranews.com.

Stewart was swept away by waves on Wednesday at Balian Beach. Basarnas Bali was informed by the Wet Selemadeg Police Office and deployed 10 personnel to search both land and sea.

Extreme waves hampered the initial search efforts, which resumed on Thursday with a broader search across a 6-square-nautical-mile area.

On Friday morning, the victim's body was found and transported to West Selemadeg Health Center by Bhuana Bali Rescue.

The operation involved local police, the Tabanan marine unit, and community members.
