Inp.polri.go.id - Ambon. The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Southeast Maluku Sub-regional Police Resort, Senior Inspector Wido Dwi Arifiya Zaen was hit by an arrow while attempting to calm down a clash between local residents in Southeast Maluku.
"Senior Inspector Wido was hit by an arrow in his head while trying to intervene the clash between the Ohoijang Lampu Merah faction and the Pemda faction on Tuesday," said Southeast Maluku Police Chief Superintendent Frans Duma on Wednesday (21/2/2024).
After receiving emergency medical treatment at Karel Sadsuitubun Regional Hospital, Chief Wido will be transferred to Siloam Hospital to remove the arrow lodged in his head, antaranews.com reported.
In response to the incident, the Southeast Maluku Police Chief urged all parties to exercise restraint and entrust the matter to the police.
"Do not let the security and peace that have been achieved be tarnished by the actions of a few people. If there are problems, report them immediately to the police. Do not take the law into your own hands, which will only harm many people," Chief Frans said.
He urged the regent, the local leaders, religious figures, traditional leaders, and youth leaders to actively participate in mediating the clash.
