inp.polri.go.id - Serang. Serang Sub-regional Police have arrested 23 perpetrators of extortion in several industrial areas spread across the local district.

Serang Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Condro Sasongko, on Monday (4/28/2025), said that the extortion perpetrators were arrested in an operation to eradicate extortion and thuggery held in several industrial locations in the East Serang area on Sunday (4/27/2025) night.

"This operation targets locations prone to extortion and thuggery in industrial areas," he explained.

According to Condro, the 23 extortion perpetrators were arrested from several locations, including intersections along the Serang-Jakarta arterial road, the PT Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper parking area, the PT Univenus entrance gate and the Cikande Modern Industrial Area gate.

According to him, this operation was carried out in order to maintain the conduciveness of security, order and comfort of the community from acts of thuggery.

"From the arrested thugs, officers secured evidence of IDR 2 million in extortion money and a bundle of parking tickets," he said.

He said that the extortionists were then secured at the Serang Sub-regional Police Headquarters for data collection and coaching.

Condro hopes that after receiving coaching and spiritual guidance, the thugs caught in this operation can change and think about getting decent jobs, so that they no longer carry out extortion.

"We also advise them to immediately look for work, so that they can get a steady income to support their families," he said.
