inp.polri.go.id – Floods that hit Seoul and several other areas in South Korea on Monday (8/8) resulted seven people died and six others still missing.
A total of five people were died and four others are missing in the city of Seoul. Meanwhile, in Gyeonggi Province, two people were died and two others were missing. Not only that, there are other nine people who were injured because of this disaster.
Yonhap news agency reported that parts of Seoul City, Incheon City, as well as Gyeonggi Province surrounding Seoul were hit by heavy rains of up to 100 millimeters per hour on Monday (8/8).
Due to the heavy rain, Seoul and its surroundings were hit by flash floods. That rainfall in Seoul itself is the highest in 80 years.
Hourly rainfall in Dongjak District, Seoul, had reached 141.5 mm at one point. It was the highest hourly rainfall since 1942.
As a result of this heavy rainfall, houses, vehicles, buildings, and subway stations in the city were flooded.
