inp.polri.go.id – Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, emphasized that his party would assist the mitigation efforts related to Pertamina's fuel leak in Cilacap. This was conveyed when he received a visit from the Executive General Manager (EGM) of PT Pertamina Central Java, Dwi Puja Ariestya and his entourage, in the Regional Police Headquarters Office on Monday (8/8/22).
On that occasion, the EGM of PT Pertamina Central Java reported the chronology of the incident and coordinated with the Central Java Police regarding the handling of fuel pipe seepage that occurred in Lengkong Village, Cilacap Regency.
Responding to that report, the Central Java Police Chief requested immediate handling before it goes worse.
"For this reason, the Cilacap Police will be backed up by the Central Java Police to secure and support these handling," explained the Central Java Police Chief.
During the meeting, it was explained that PT Pertamina and related parties had carried out various mitigation efforts to overcome seepage caused by the leak of the Cilacap - Bandung fuel pipeline.
"As a mitigation effort, we have prepared a team and coordinated with the Regional Environmental Service and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," explained PT Pertamina Central Java's EGM.
Previously, it was reported that the Pertamina fuel pipe leaked in Jeruklegi District, Cilacap, Wednesday (3/8/22) morning. Due to that leak, the flow of the Jambu River around the area turned black and smelled of fuel.
The leak in the Jeruklegi River caused fishermen to be unable to catch fish because they were worried that the fishing gear used will be damaged by the oil.
The EGM of PT Pertamina Central Java also opened a complaint post to respond the complaint from the community. This post is in collaboration with the police.
"In addition to handling the leak, Pertamina and the Cilacap Police have also opened a complaint post for the public due to the incident," explained the EGM of PT Pertamina Central Java.
