Personnel from the East Java Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit, personnel from the East Java Regional Police Mobile Brigade Battalion B Manggarai, and the Indonesian National Police (INP) Medical Team arrived at the Ngada Sub-regional Police Headquarters on Friday afternoon (8/21/2026).
The arrival of these troops and medical teams is part of the police's swift action to support the mitigation and recovery efforts for communities and areas affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake, particularly in Riung District, Ngada Regency.
The group arrived at the police headquarters at around 5:45 p.m. The 13 personnel from the East Java Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit are led by Yohanis Benu. There are also the NTT Regional Police Mobile Brigade Battalion B Manggarai, led by Soleman W. Tallo.
In addition to security personnel and field response support, the INP's Medical Team, led by Senior Superintendent Dr. Gigi Fausi and team also arrived.
NTT Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, through the Acting Head of Public Relations of the NTT Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Sajimin, stated that the deployment of the BKO personnel and the Medical Services Team was the police's response to the community's need for support following the earthquake.
"The arrival of police personnel demonstrates our commitment to assisting communities affected by the disaster. They will support the mitigation and recovery process in post-earthquake areas, particularly in Riung District, Ngada Regency," said Sajimin, conveying the message from the NTT Regional Police Chief.
He stated that the presence of additional personnel is expected to strengthen the police's capacity to respond to post-disaster situations, including security, community services, evacuation, aid distribution, and health support.
"In disaster situations, the community's needs are very diverse. Therefore, we are not only preparing personnel for security, but also providing health support and various field support facilities so that response can be carried out in an integrated and optimal manner," he explained.
Sajimin also emphasized that all assigned personnel will work collaboratively with the Ngada Sub-regional Police and other relevant agencies, prioritizing public safety.
