Inp.polri.go.id - Banjarbaru. South Kalimantan Regional Police has stepped up food safety controls and medical screening for beneficiaries of the government’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program to prevent food poisoning cases.
“Food security checks are conducted three times a week to ensure raw ingredients are safe for consumption,” said South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan in Banjarbaru on Friday (3/10/2025). “We also carry out health screening on students to detect possible food allergies so that meals posing health risks are not given.”
The screening process began this week and will continue for a month. Police have instructed all nutrition service unit (SPPG) kitchens to strictly follow the standards set by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
Currently, the South Kalimantan operates three SPPG kitchens in Banjarbaru, Tanah Laut, and Tanah Bumbu, with 11 more under construction. The Banjarbaru unit is equipped with a wastewater treatment facility and is developing a dish-cleaning machine to enhance hygiene in the MBG program.
