Inp.polri.go.id - Banjarbaru. South Kalimantan Regional Police are pushing food security by cultivating corn on 120 hectares of idle land in Banjar District, part of a nationwide one-million-hectare corn program backed by the government.
“By year’s end we aim to harvest 3,100 tons of corn, helping meet Bulog’s annual stock needs of 9,500 tons in South Kalimantan,” said South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan during a harvest event on Saturday (27/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The South Kalimantan Police has already produced 700 tons in the third quarter, following earlier harvests of 275 and 768 tons.
The initiative, supported by Lambung Mangkurat University, local authorities, and private firms, transforms fire-prone grasslands into productive farmland. Police have also built greenhouses, fish ponds, and cattle farms, with part of the yield channeled to support university students in need.
