Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir met with Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa on Saturday (27/9/2025), signaling a push for stronger government support ahead of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

“Our collaboration with the Finance Ministry is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, strengthening human capital, sports achievements, and youth empowerment,” he said via his official Instagram account, as quoted by antaranews.com.

While details were not disclosed, the meeting is believed to focus on securing additional funding for Indonesia’s SEA Games contingent. Minister Erick earlier revealed that only Rp 10 billion (about USD 610,000) is currently available, enough to send just 120 athletes.

By comparison, Indonesia sent 599 athletes to the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia and 476 to the 2021 Games in Hanoi. Erick estimated participation typically requires Rp 45–65 billion. With the Games kicking off 9 December 2025, funding remains a critical concern.
