The proactive measures in anticipating and minimising flood risk were also conducted, such as the one conducted by the Siaga SAR Team of Mobile Brigade Unit of South Kalimantan Regional Police on Sunday (5/12/2021). Water level observation patrol was conducted by the team in several flood-prone villages and subdistricts in Banjar regency, South Kalimantan. On several locations, the team saw puddles covering some parts of the road at its lowest points. Even though not flooding people's houses, but the water was reported to flood some people's gardens. Not only observing the water level, but the team also advised communities in villages and subdistricts to be aware of flood risks. The anticipation efforts to minimise floods effect becomes the attention of South Kalimantan Regional Police in facing the rainy season at the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022. Deputy Chief of South Kalimantan Regional Police, Police Brigadier General Mohammad Agung Budijono, said that monitoring and water level patrol are conducted routinely by personnel on the field, especially at the flood-prone locations. "We keep checking and patrolling in flood-prone areas so that every development on flooding situations could be followed by immediate measures to anticipate unwanted things", Deputy Chief of South Kalimantan Regional Police said. Deputy Chief of Regional Police addressed this in the middle of his visit on flood conditions and effects in the Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) regency several days before. As information, the high flood in HST was flooding people's houses and stayed for a few days from the end of November to the beginning of December.
