Inp.polri.go.id - Mataram. A 63-year-old South Korean tourist was found dead, floating in the waters off Gili Trawangan, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
The victim, identified by the initials KJ, was discovered about five meters from the shoreline near Melati Cottage.
Assistant Inspector I Made Susila Artana ,the Chief of Pemenang Police Office, said on Sunday )8/9/2024) that local witnesses spotted the victim floating face down in the sea. Immediate efforts were made to bring him ashore for first aid.
"Unfortunately, after an examination by the medical team from Warna Clinic, the victim was declared deceased," said Chief Susila, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Following the recovery, officers from Gili Indah Police Office, West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police's Object Protection Unit, and local residents transported the body to Warna Clinic before moving it to Bhayangkara Hospital in Mataram for further examination.
The exact cause of death remains unclear, and the North Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit is currently conducting an inquiry into the incident.
