South Sulawesi Police Bans 'Sahur On The Road'

Inp.polri.go.id - Makassar. The South Sulawesi Regional Police prohibits the practice of "Sahur on The Road" during the fasting month of Ramadan. Sahur is the pre-dawn meal eaten before fasting begins during Ramadan, South Sulawesi Police Chief, Inspector General Andi Rian Ryacudu Djajadi has ordered that this instruction be implemented by all police traffic units, said the Head of Traffic Unit at the Makassar Metropolitan Sub-regionalPolice, Superintendent Amin Toha. He said the reason being that such activities could disturb public order and safety as well as traffic safety, order, and flow . "Therefore, it would be preferable if the sahur activities on the streets were replaced with other charitable activities, which are more beneficial during the holy month of Ramadan," Chief Amin said on Tuesday (12/3/2024). According to him, there are many more suitable places for sahur, and people can be more devout in their worship during Ramadan. In addition to precautionary measures against traffic disturbances during Ramadan, the police will also enhance security at mosques. "We have prepared joint personnel to secure places of worship (mosques), especially those located at intersections and along the roadsides," he explained. (mg/fa/hn/nm)
