Bumi Persada Permai area in Bayung Lencir District, Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Regency where illegal drilling (illegal oil mining) was found, often exploded and resulted in casualties.
The operation lasted for five days. From September 30 to October 4, 2021, the South Sumatra Police arrested six illegal drilling suspects.
"This issue related to the handling of illegal drilling practices in South Sumatra must be addressed together," explained the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Pol. Inspector-General Toni Harmanto at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters promoter building, Thursday (10/07/21).
The South Sumatra Regional Police Chief hopes that this will no longer be repeated every year. The people there need to find workable solutions for the sustainability of their economic activities.
Pol. Inspector-General Toni Harmanto said that the results of this business are very lucrative. In just one month, the money spent for the operational costs of this illegal activity can already be a Break Event Point (BEP) or return on investment. We will continue our efforts to enforce the law. It does not just stop here; the National Armed Forces and National Police are ready to take legal action.
In the same place, the South Sulawesi Regional Police's Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation Agency, Pol. Grand Commissioner M Barly Ramadhany, this law enforcement operation involved no less than 380 joint personnel. Consists of the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation, Mobile Brigade Unit of South Sulawesi Regional Police, Forestry Service and other technical agencies.
The suspects were arrested from two locations, namely, Production Forest Management Unit Meranti in Selaro District and Production Forest Management Unit Lalan-Mangsang-Mendis in Mendis District.
"The suspect is suspected of violating Article 36 point 19 to (2) of the Job Creation Law Number 11 of 2020. And Article 40 point (7) of the Job Creation Law Number 11 of 2020. Therefore, the minimum sentence is three years, "concluded Pol. Grand Commissioner M Barly Ramadhany.
