Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Spanish Embassy in Indonesia has requested the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) to continue searching for three Spanish victims of the sunken tourist boat KM Putri Sakinah near Padar Island, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.
The appeal comes as the search enters its seventh day, which is typically the standard duration for SAR operations in Indonesia.
“I would like to request that you continue the search efforts until all bodies are recovered,” said Spanish Ambassador Bernardo de Sicart Escoda in an official letter received on Thursday (1/1/2026), as reported by antaranews.com.
He said that continued efforts are crucial for the families of Martin Carreras Fernando, the coach of Valancia female soccer team, and expressed gratitude to Indonesian authorities for rescuing one of his children.
The Maumere Search and Rescue Agency Chief Fathur Rahman confirmed that the search operations will resume after a brief pause, with a planned three-day intensive effort to locate the remaining victims. Despite several recovery attempts, the bodies of the Valencia coach and his two children have yet to be found.
