inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has instructed Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) to prioritize local products, including eggs and other domestically sourced food ingredients for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana also requested that SPPG prioritize food supplies from local farmers and businesses to support the economic sustainability of local communities.
"SPPGs are asked to prioritize local products and production, including for the egg needs in the MBG Program," the BGN Head emphasized on Monday (5/18/2026).
According to him, if SPPG have their own local supplier networks, food supplies are expected to continue to absorb the production of local farmers in each region.
"In accordance with the President's wishes, eggs for the MBG Program, in particular, must be locally produced," he said.
On the other hand, BGN does not establish a uniform national menu, but only establishes nutritional composition standards to ensure the quality of the MBG menu. Furthermore, the agency has assigned nutritionists to each SPPG whose job is to develop menus based on regional food potential and ensure that the nutritional needs of program recipients are met.
"We do not establish a national menu, but rather establish nutritional composition standards. Therefore, we assign nutrition supervisors to each SPPG so they can create menus based on local resource potential and local community preferences," explained Dadan.
In addition to supporting national food security, the policy of using local products is also expected to maintain stable livestock product prices at the producer level, as the MBG Program must provide dual benefits, both in terms of meeting community nutritional needs and strengthening the local economy.
The Head of BGN believes that current domestic egg production is still capable of meeting the needs of the MBG Program if distribution and absorption are optimal. Therefore, he requested that all program implementers continue to strengthen partnerships with local farmers in their respective regions.
"As long as local production is available and of good quality, that should be prioritized. The MBG Program is designed to encourage the economic empowerment of local communities," said the Head of BGN.
