Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Tangerang Sub-regional Police under the Banten Regional Police expanded maritime search and monitoring operations across its territorial waters to support the search for five journalists who lost contact while covering Mount Anak Krakatau activity.

Deployed through the Water and Air Police Unit, search teams swept waters stretching from Cangkir Island to the maritime boundary of Serang Regency.

"We continue monitoring operations within our water jurisdiction. As of our latest patrol, conditions remain safe," said Tangerang Police Chief Senior Superintendent Andi Muhammad Indra Waspadalah Amirullah on Monday (14/9/2026).

Although the initial incident occurred within Pandeglang waters, Tangerang Police initiated preventive patrols in adjacent marine corridors to assist search efforts. Officers reported no signs or debris related to the missing journalists during the sweep.

Police reminded maritime operators and fishermen to remain cautious of heightened sea waves and unpredictable weather triggered by Mount Anak Krakatau's ongoing volcanic activity.
