The Chief of Indonesian National Police (INP) Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced that the Police Science Institute (STIK) will be transformed into the Indonesian Police University. This decision comes after STIK received a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, signifying a crucial step towards establishing the Indonesian Police University.

He expressed his gratitude during the STIK graduation ceremony on Wednesday (21/6/23), "I would like to express my gratitude to the Head of the Police Training Center, the STIK Chairman, as well as the professors and lecturers who have received the recommendation letter from the ministry to establish or develop STIK into the Indonesian Police University."

Highlighting the significance of this transformation, he said that the Indonesian Police University will not only cater to police personnel but will also welcome members of the general public to pursue education there. While specific programs will be designed primarily for the police force, the university aims to offer opportunities for the broader public to participate in these programs.

Currently functioning as an institutional and academic education center within the INP, STIK operates under the authority of the Police Education Institution (PTIK) led by Inspector General Nico Afinta.
