Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Army is prepared to assist the Indonesian National Police (INP) in securing the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 festivities, according to Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak.
"The police are the leading sector; we provide backup. There should be no issues," he said during a sports event in East Jakarta on Friday (13/12/2024).
Commander Maruli highlighted the Army’s prior experience in Nataru security, including safeguarding critical locations and conducting routine patrols. However, he did not disclose the number of personnel or specific areas targeted for this year’s operation.
Separately, the INP Traffic Corps Chief, Inspector General Aan Suhanan, outlined three focus clusters for the 2025 Operation Lilin Nataru, namely congestion points and accident-prone areas on toll roads, traffic at ferry crossings, and arterial and tourist routes.
The INP has coordinated with stakeholders and conducted route surveys in anticipation of a 2.8% increase in vehicle movement compared to last year. Travelers can contact the Traffic Corps call center at 1-500-669 for assistance during the holiday season.
