Chief of Maluku Regional Police Inspector General Lotharia Latif has instructed his team to arrest a man identified by initials RM alias Baret, a resident of Negeri Wakal, Leihitu District in Central Maluku Regency, on the suspicion of being a provocateur of a clash between two groups on Monday, February 27, 2023.

The former Chief of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police alleged that Baret was responsible for the assault of a police officer in Wakal Village on Sunday, February 26, 2023.

"We ask him to surrender peacefully. Otherwise, we will pursue and arrest him, dead or alive," he said on Tuesday, (2/28/2023).

Baret is known to be in possession of two organic firearms, namely an SS1 V2 and a Revolver.

The general made it clear that he has zero tolerance to any member of the public who possessed firearms illegally as they posed a great danger to both the public and law enforcement officers.

He urged the public not to cover up or hide provocateurs and dangerous criminals, encouraging local leaders to play more active roles in maintaining peace and security in their respective areas.
