inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police revealed the statement from the wife of Arya Daru Pangayunan (39) regarding the yellow tape that wrapped his head. She said that the tape was bought from a shop in Yogyakarta. 

“Relating to the yellow tape, according to the statement of his wife, the tape was bought in last June at Red Shop, Gedong Kuning, Yogyakarta,” says the Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam Indradi in his official statement on Monday (7/28/2025).

Ade says that the tape was also at the house of the victim in Yogyakarta and will be handed over to the police investigators for further investigation. 

Regarding its use, the investigative team obtained information from Arya Daru's co-worker.

According to Arya's co-worker, the duct tape is commonly used by Ministry of Foreign Affairs employees traveling abroad.

"It's used to make it easier to find items at the airport, given its prominent color," he said.
