inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief Inspector General Anggoro Sukartono accompanied by his Vice Chief, Brigadier General Eddy Djunaedi, attends the Indonesia’s Horse Racing Derby 2025 at Sultan Agung Stadium, Sunday (7/27/2025).

This event was a lively affair, marking the conclusion of the Triple Crown national finals and a significant moment that demonstrated the resurgence of horse racing in Indonesia.

Extraordinary enthusiasm was demonstrated by participants, horse owners, and the thousands of spectators who packed the racetrack. This event not only presented prestigious competition but also engaged the wider public through various supporting activities.

Anto Odang, Founder of Sarga.co, the organizer, expressed his pride in the success of the event. He emphasized Sarga's commitment to continuing to popularize horse racing in Indonesia.

"We are delighted to be able to hold the Triple Crown national finals. Our commitment is to continue elevating horse racing in Indonesia. We also extend our appreciation to all parties who have contributed to the development of this sport," said Anto.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Horse Racing Association, Aryo Djojohadikusumo, revealed that 156 horses from 13 provinces participated in the 59th National Horse Racing Championship, selected from more than 300 applicants.

"We are focused on organizing it safely and professionally, in line with President Prabowo's directive to achieve zero accidents in sports," Aryo emphasized.

Interest in national horse racing has also seen a significant increase. Viewers for live broadcasts via YouTube have surged to 8,000, up from just 2,000 previously. Overall, this year's viewership has reached 110,000, a sharp increase from 60-70,000 the previous year. On the TikTok platform, some racing content has even reached 8 million views.

Aryo also highlighted the significant potential of horse racing outside of Java. He cited the example of how a race during the PON (National Games) in Takengon, Aceh, attracted 120,000 spectators, surpassing the enthusiasm of a football match. A similar phenomenon has occurred in Bima and North Sulawesi.

With its successful implementation, surge in economic value, and widespread attention from various parties, the 2025 Indonesia Derby will not only be a competition but also a symbol of the revival of horse racing as a promising sport and industry in Indonesia.
